YIKES…here we go.
Hey Squad! Ash typing. I made a promise during Thursday’s stream - one I’m feeling quite ambivalent about right now, but alas, here it is. I’m cringing HARD as I type this because I just watched this thru for the first time in YEARS. Carson City, Nevada, 2009 - I was 19 years old, mere weeks before I moved to LA, where I took my very first stab into the world of stand-up comedy. It’s something that has always scared me - far more than magic shows ever did. Feeling so vulnerable, so naked on stage - it was terrifying, and unfortunately, it was recorded.
Hosted by the incredibly talented Kat Simmons, a good friend and mentor at the time, this was a showcase performance by about a dozen of us first-time comics in front of a live audience after a few weeks of workshopping our sets with Kat herself. This was a very safe environment for a newbie, so it went about as well as anyone could have hoped, but it’s something I’ve never revisited since moving to LA.
However, the idea came up very recently - a terrifying proposition of a potential episode (with heavy emphasis on the word “potential”) of “Scare Me”, where Art and myself, along with David from SC, would attend an open mic and embarrass ourselves in the most ultimate way. It’s not confirmed, so don’t get your hopes up yet. I need to mull that one over for a few days…okay maybe years, LOL.
Love you all. Enjoy the cringe….
